Install Varly on Magento, Webflow, Framer, Wix and other platforms
Where to paste the snippet on Magento, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Squarespace, Lightspeed and custom-built sites.
In this article
The snippet works the same on every platform: it needs to be in the <head> of every page, once. Below is where to find that place on the most common platforms. Menus on these platforms can change, so if a step looks different, look for "custom code", "head code" or "code injection".
Magento / Adobe Commerce
- In the admin, go to Content → Design → Configuration.
- Edit the store view you want to measure.
- Open HTML Head and paste the snippet into Scripts and Style Sheets.
- Save, and clear the cache under System → Cache Management.
Webflow
- Open Site settings → Custom code.
- Paste the snippet into Head code and save.
- Publish your site. Custom code only runs on the published site.
Framer
- Open Site Settings → Custom Code and click Add script.
- Give it a name, such as
Varly. - Set Placement to Start of
<head>and Page to All. - Set Run to Once. Framer switches pages without a full reload, and Varly notices those page changes by itself. With On every page visit, Framer would load the snippet again after every click.
- Paste the snippet into Code, click Add and publish your site.
Custom code in Framer requires a paid site plan.
Wix
- In your site's dashboard, go to Settings and open Custom code (under Advanced).
- Click Add Custom Code and paste the snippet.
- Choose All pages and place the code in the Head.
- Click Apply.
Wix only allows custom code on sites with a premium plan and a connected domain.
Squarespace
- Open your site's settings and find Code Injection (under Developer tools or Advanced, depending on your version).
- Paste the snippet into the Header field and save.
Code injection is only available on some Squarespace plans.
Lightspeed
Lightspeed eCom lets you add custom code to your theme. Where you find it depends on your theme. Look in the theme settings or the theme editor for a field for custom scripts or the <head>. If you can't find it, your theme developer or Lightspeed support can point you to it.
BigCommerce
- Go to Storefront → Script Manager and click Create a Script.
- Choose Head as the location, All pages, and Essential or Analytics as the category.
- Paste the snippet and save.
Shopware, PrestaShop and others
Use the platform's option for custom header code, or add the snippet to the theme's main layout file just before </head>. If you edit theme files, use a child theme where possible, so updates don't remove the snippet.
Custom-built sites
Ask your developer to add the snippet to the main layout or template, so it is in the <head> of every page.
Single-page apps (sites built with React, Vue and similar frameworks) work too. When the address changes without a full page load, Varly counts it as a new page view automatically.
After installing
- In Varly, go to the Install page and click Turn tracking on under 3. Turn tracking on.
- Open Settings → Tracking & privacy and check Domains. Varly only accepts data from the domains listed there and their subdomains. If your site also runs on another address, such as a platform address or a staging domain, add it, separated by a comma.
- Check Never track these pages. By default it contains
/checkout,/cart,/winkelwagenand/afrekenen. Add your own cart, checkout and account paths if they are different. - Follow Check that Varly is working.
Common problems
I don't see a place for custom code. Some platforms only allow it on paid plans. Check your plan, or ask the platform's support.
Data comes in from some pages but not others. The snippet is probably only on some templates. Make sure it is in the layout that every page uses.
My developer tests on their own computer. Tick Also accept data from localhost under Settings → Tracking & privacy while testing. Leave it off for a live site.
