Check page speed, frustration and errors

Analyses shows per page how fast it loads, how quickly it reacts, how much it jumps, and where visitors run into problems.

In this article

A slow or broken page costs orders, but you rarely notice it on your own fast laptop. Analyses shows what your real visitors experience, page by page.

Choose what you see

At the top, pick a device (All devices, Desktop, Mobile or Tablet) and a period (7 days, 30 days or 90 days). Phones are often much slower than computers, so check Mobile separately.

Needs attention

This card lists up to five pages where problems and traffic come together, worst first. Each page shows why it is listed, for example Poor loading speed or Rage clicks on 3.2% of views. Use the links to open the rage-click or dead-click heatmap of that page.

Pages with fewer than 30 pageviews are left out, because a few visits can give a misleading picture.

The Pages table

For every page you see:

  • Loading speed (LCP): how long it takes before the main content is visible. Good up to 2.5 s, poor above 4 s.
  • Response to clicks (INP): how fast the page reacts when someone clicks or types. Good up to 200 ms, poor above 500 ms.
  • Layout shifts (CLS): how much the page jumps while it loads. Good up to 0.1, poor above 0.25.
  • Rage clicks, Dead clicks and JavaScript errors: the share of pageviews from visits where that happened.

Green is good, orange needs improvement and red is poor. Each speed score is the value that 75% of visits stay under, the same way Google measures it.

A dash (—) means there is not enough data yet: fewer than 5 measurements for that page. It does not mean the page is fast or slow. Choose a longer period, or wait for more visits.

JavaScript errors

This card lists errors that happened in your visitors' browsers, with how many visits had them, on which pages, and when they were last seen. Email addresses and long numbers are removed before Varly stores the message.

Click Recordings with errors to watch visits in which an error happened. Only part of all visits is recorded, so some errors have no recording.

Common problems

  • Every speed score is a dash. There are not enough measurements yet. Pick 30 days or 90 days, or check that the snippet runs on these pages.
  • A page I expect is missing. The table shows the 100 busiest pages in the chosen period.
  • The numbers differ from Google PageSpeed. PageSpeed tests one visit in a lab. Analyses shows what your real visitors experienced, on their own devices and connections.
